They are produced by leading manufacturers, such as NOK in Japan & other specialist manufacturers in Europe. Because of this, you can have absolute confidence in their design, fit & longevity and they should not be confused with cheap, unbranded fork seals available from online marketplaces.
Fork seals perform multiple functions. As well as retaining fork oil within the fork, fork seals prevent the entry of dirt, water & contamination that would lead to increased wear, added friction, and compromised damping properties of the fork oil. They also retain air pressure within the fork, which affects performance whether forks are air-assisted or not.
It’s easy to take our fork seals for granted, but they are the result of extensive design research and advanced manufacturing technology. Our JMC fork seals are made by special processes to produce the synthetic rubber of the seal lip fully integrated with the metal ring. The embedded lip “spring” provides just the right amount of hold on the stanchion. Combined with advanced seal & materials design, JMP fork seal provide excellent sealing while minimising sliding friction in fork operation.
